Search Tips

In order to get more accurate results, our search has the following Google-Type search functionality:

+

If you use '+' in front of a word, then that word will be present in the search results.
ex: Harry +Potter will return results with the word 'Potter'.

-

If you use '-' in front of a word, then that word will be absent in the search results.
ex: Harry -Potter will return results without the word 'Potter'.

AND

If you use 'AND' between two words, then both of those words will be present in the search results.
ex: Harry AND Potter will return results with both 'Harry' and 'Potter'.

OR

If you use 'OR' between two words, then bth of those words may or may not be present in the search results.
ex: Harry OR Potter will return results with just 'Harry', results with just 'Potter' and results with both 'Harry' and 'Potter'.

NOT

If you use 'NOT' before a word, then that word will be absent in the search results.
ex: Harry NOT Potter will return results without the word 'Potter'.

""

Placing '""' around words will perform a phrase search. The search results will contain those words in that order.
ex: "Harry Potter" will return any results with 'Harry Potter' in them, but not 'Potter Harry'.

*

Using '*' in a word will perform a wildcard search. The '*' signifies any number of characters. Searches can not start with a wildcard.
ex: Pot*er will return results with words starting with 'Pot' and ending in 'er'. In this case, 'Potter' will be a match.

Adyar Bookshop offers all our valued customers the opportunity to be a member of our FREE Friends of Adyar loyalty program.

With every item you purchase, whether from the website, by phone, by mail or in person, your dollar amount spent will be recorded against your name.  Points can also be accumulated for psychic readings.

When you have reached 300 points within a 12 month period, you will receive a $30 gift voucher (valid for the following 12 months) which you can spend on anything in the shop. Points will expire on the 12 month anniversary for when they when they were accumulated.

Should you order on the internet you will automatically be joined up to the Friends of Adyar loyalty program (the receipt you receive with your order will alert you to how many points you have).  If you come into the shop please be sure to let our friendly staff know that you would like to join or are already a member when making a purchase.

Returns Policy:

We are happy to exchange books or other items (except CD's, Audio Cassettes and Videos) for other goods or a credit voucher providing the following conditions are met:
(i)The items are returned within one month of purchase.
(ii)The items are still in mint/re-saleable condition. You have kept your receipt.
CD's, Audio Cassettes and Videos are unable to be exchanged or returned for 'change of mind' purchases. Faulty items (misprinted, misbound etc.) will be refunded in full providing the items are returned within one month of purchase and you have kept your receipt.
